Galina Bakinova
Artist
Galina Bakinova is a visual artist working with graphics, animation, and objects.
Originally from Russia, she has been living and working in Podgorica, Montenegro, since 2022.
Since 2023, she has been a Master’s student at the University of Donja Gorica (Montenegro), enrolled in the Theory of Contemporary Art program. In 2024, she studied Art History at KU University in Austria.
At the core of Galina’s artistic practice is the experience of forced migration, which began in 2022. Through graphics, animation, and object-based works, she explores states of displacement, alienation, and instability shaped by the loss of familiar social connections. Drawing on the aesthetics of surrealism, her practice examines fragile emotional states that arise under conditions of uncertainty, focusing on moments of suspension, silence, and in-betweenness.
