Galina Bakinova
Visual artist, Digital illustrator, Animator
Galina Bakinova is a multidisciplinary artist and digital illustrator originally from Russia, based in Podgorica, Montenegro. Galina has over a decade of experience in visual storytelling, conceptual art and contemporary illustrations. In 2025, Galina is completing her master's degree in University of Donja Gorica in Montenegro in field Theory of Contemporary Art. From September 2024 till January 2025 Galina studied at the Catholic Private University, Linz, Austria in the field of History of Art – master degree.
Galina is a grant recipient and participant in international festivals and exhibitions, including the Digital Street Art Festival in Bosnia in 2023, the International Festival of Author's Documentary Films in Latvia in 2025. In 2021, Galina became the winner of the Reclaim Award in Cologne, Germany, her work was shown on a billboard in Cologne, and information about the art work was published in the winners' book.
Galina’s art practice focuses on the intersection of minimalist aesthetics and symbolic metaphors, often using abstract, emotionally charged forms and surreal combinations. She works in illustration and stop motion animation, creating public art, textile sculptures and experimental graphics. Her visual language is characterized by clean shapes, soft textures and surreal compositions that often include ambiguous forms.
