Suspended Grammar
This textile work explores the instability of linguistic identity in a condition of displacement. The word “scary” exists simultaneously in Montenegrin (lfnguage in emigration), and Russian (the native language).
At the center of the circular form, the particle “not” is embroidered as an act of negation. Negation here does not erase fear; it restructures it. It becomes a mechanism of self-preservation, a minimal grammar of survival.
The hanging threads extend the work into space, functioning as fragile lines of connection, some interrupted, some reconfigured.
Language appears not as a stable system but as a suspended structure: stretched, permeable, and continuously rewritten.
